2008 Term 2 Social

The Term 2 social will be a ChIPS mini-olympics held at Latrobe University on Monday 7th July. Please call Kristen for details on 9345 6616 or click here to check out flyer.

Leadership Training

Leadership Training will be held over two days - Monday 30th June and Tuesday 1st July. This is open to any participant of the ChIPS program, and is designed to help young people develop skills that assist in leadership roles. We will discuss things like leadership styles and behaviours, communication, public speaking, and self-care. Interested? Call Kristen on 9345 6616 or check it out here.

ChIPS-High Challenge Camp

ChIPPERS have the opportunity to be involved in an extra camp. The Victoria Police High Challenge program has kindly offered to run a camp exclusively for ChIPPERS. There will be 15 places for a camp held Wednesday 24th -Friday 26th September. But you need to get your expression of interest forms back ASAP to be in the running.

2008 Run for the Kids

Would you like to be involved in the Run for the Kids event with the ChIPS program? There are many ways you can do so...

- register with the ChIPS 5.76km or 14.14km teams by contacting Kristen by Wed 20th Feb (9345 6616 or by email)

- if you miss this deadline or if you'd prefer, you can register individually but still run/walk with the ChIPS teams. Just go to the Run For the Kids website to register.

- come along on the day to help distribute information about the ChIPS program, and celebrate with us after the event in the beautiful Queen Victoria Gardens on St Kilda Rd. Call or email Kristen, or just turn up on the day and look for the ChIPS banners and signs.

2008 Term 1 Social

The first social for 2008 is a Mystery Tour happening on Friday 28th March. All ChIPPERS will have received their flyers about the event and Permission Forms by now. Please contact Kristen if interested in attending. Don't forget to bring your permission/emergency contact form with you on the day. See you then!

2008 Camp

Wow, what a FANTASTIC camp we had in January. The three days were spent at Allambee Camp in the Strzelecki Ranges enjoying great food, wonderful scenery, challenging activities and of course the company of amazing people. Thanks to our major sponsors and fundraisers ChIP In and NetApp - we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks also to the staff and volunteers who gave up their time to care for us all during the camp. And extra big thanks to the camp committee of Jess, Lauren, Charlotte, Karen and Sarah for your great efforts throughout the year planning this important event.

Dear ChIPS,

Words cannot express our Thanks and Gratitude for the happiness you gave our daughter Jess on her first ChIPS camp. The dedication of the group and all the people involved in making this camp happen. Wow what a group of people. Even though Jess was very unwell she went on the camp, and she succeeded in more ways than we could have imagined. You lit up her eyes which had lost their light, you made her laugh which doesn’t happen very often, you gave her hope which is lost in the background, and you gave her spirit which is lying low. I know Jess made them happen but without your support and encouragement you did this for her. So not just a Thank you from Jess but a huge Thank You from her parents for giving us hope that our daughter will get better with the support of this fantastic group.

2007 Term 4 Social - Christmas Party

The ChIPS End of Year Celebration will be held on the evening of Wednesday 12th December. Look here for all the details. Please also complete the permission form and send to Kristen or bring on the night. RSVP by Monday 3rd December. Hope to see you there.

2007 Term 3 Social - Dance Lesson and Dinner

The next social will be held in the evening of Monday 24th September, 2007 from 5pm. There will be an opportunity to try out some dances like the salsa, before heading out to dinner. All abilities will be catered for. See flyer for details. Please also complete Permission Form and email to Kristen or bring with you on the day.

The dinner will be from 7.30pm at Spiga, Menzies Alley, Melbourne Central, 360 Elizabeth St, City. Ph. 8676 7515. Meals range in price from $10-$18. We will be travelling on the tram together from the dancing to the dinner location. You will need to be picked up from Spiga from approximately 9pm onwards. (Alternatively you can call your parents on the ChIPS mobile when we know a more definite time). Please RSVP ASAP according to the instructions on the flyer. Look forward to seeing you all then.

COMMUNITY IDOL - did you know that the ChIPS Program finished in the Top 10 at the 2007 Westpac Community Idol Competition? The program was selected from over 500 applicants. Well done advocacy committee who put together the ChIPS application.

TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER - our new friends at NetApp held a fundraising event for ChIPS in May and a HUGE $4000 was raised for the ChIPS program. Thanks NetApp!

TRANSITION SEMINAR - Are you growing out of the Royal Children's Hospital?

The Transition Team from RCH together with CAH and ChIPS will be running a seminar parents and young people to learn about preparing for transition to adult care. The seminar will be held in August, 2008. More information will be available on this site soon.
