Mission Statement

We are committed to providing an excellent standard of health care to the newborn and their families and education to health professionals involved in perinatal care. The Intensive & Special Care Nurseries which are also a tertiary referral centre for the babies of Victoria provide care in a multidisciplinary family centred environment.

The Newborn Emergency Transport Service (NETS) is a statewide service providing emergency retrieval for sick and premature infants born in suburban and country hospitals and who require neonatal intensive care.

The Division provides care for infants in the Postnatal Wards, Outpatients Department and has a leading role in the Premature Baby Follow-up Clinic.

We recognise our role and seek to lead the way in education, training and research in neonatal care.
